The LOI Summer School takes place in a beautiful new school in picturesque Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. A short commute from Dublin city centre, Dun Laoghaire is superbly situated overlooking Dublin Bay with a splendid harbor and pier. It is a
vibrant exciting place; a mélange of the old and new. Local amenities include a theatre, cinema and maritime museum. The seaside town is also host to the Festival of World Cultures which will be held from July 23rd. Students can enjoy
a programme of concerts, fairs and markets, performances and street events. Particularly of interest will be the events highlighting Irish culture and history which form part of our social programme for 2010. Fun and learning in a great setting!

The LOI Summer School takes place at Monkstown Educate Together National School, Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire. This state of the art school is situated on the extensive and beautiful Grounds of the IADT Campus (Institute of Art Design and Technology). It boasts many fine facilities which include spacious, bright and modern classrooms, sports grounds (full size all-weather soccer pitch, basketball courts and sports hall), recreation room and outdoor seated patio area where students can
enjoy lunch. This is a very attractive location for our students as it is situated close to our extensive host family base in south Dublin. The Summer School operates to the highest academic standard and is open to inspection by the Department of Education and Science. We place great emphasis on our academic programme. Class size is limited to a maximum of 12 students.

LOI is famous for its high quality English and sports programmes. This year we are delighted to offer the following in addition to our English and general social programme.

Football training will take place on the new all-weather soccer pitch located on the school campus. The programme includes coaching sessions, regular matches and a variety of fun activities all of which will be led by a fully qualified FAI (Football Association of Ireland) coach.

Tennis coaching is providing by the Jamie Stafford Tennis Academy. Along with 22 years full-time coaching experience, Jamie Stafford is also a certified PTR professional gradecoach for Ireland. Classes take place in the professional surroundings of Sportsco leisure facility. Coaching is providing for children of all levels and sessions are lively and enjoyable. Where possible students will be integrated with Irish children for practice sessions.

Lessons take place at Brennanstown Riding School (one of Ireland’s leading equestrian centres), situated in County Wicklow which is known as the garden of Ireland. A typical daily programme includes one hour’s tuition and one hour’s ride-out. All riding levels are catered for and tuition is to the highest standard. Students are transported from the school to the riding centre. Journey time from school to centre is 20 minutes each way.

Lessons are held in Stepaside Golf Course, at the foothill of the Dublin mountains. Instruction is tailored to suit all levels and students will have the opportunity to improve all aspects of their game. The course boasts many tree-lined fairways, small tricky well manicured greens and exceptional scenery.

Training is facilitated by the Irish National Sailing School in Dun Laoghaire. Students are taught in a relaxed environment and challenged within their level of ability. The focus is on fun, learning valuable nautical and team skills and developing water confidence.

Dance classes are taught in an atmosphere of fun and rejuvenation. Beginning with basic jig and reel steps, students will be instructed in Irish step technique and ceili dancing. The course will culminate in a visit to a ceili (dance evening) where students can try out their new skills. Classes are led by a qualified dance instructor.
