An orientation session is held to help students settle into their stay in Ireland. Information is
presented to students orally but also in written format, covering:

  • Host families
  • Transport to school
  • Discipline
  • Emergency situations
  • Contact details of leaders
  • Programme of activities: excursions, evening events etc

All host families are carefully selected by LOI, the majority of which have extensive experience hosting students. Living with an Irish family, offers the student a very real experience of cultural immersion and many students choose to return to the same host family year after year. Accommodation is on a twin-sharing basis. Single rooms available on request.

  • Younger students are accommodated as close to the school as possible
  • All students travel to the school in groups
  • For the first day at school: students are always accompanied to the bus stop by a member of their host family and are collected again at the end of the day
  • Each student is presented with an identity card, detailing key contact information in Ireland
